Is Having Dental Goals Important?

Posted on 7/6/2020 by Rho Family Dentistry
Is Having Dental Goals Important? You may have heard it said that without a plan, goals are just wishes. No matter what aspect of your life you want to improve, mapping out a plan for your goals is essential to achieving them. We often hear patients say that their oral hygiene routine could use improvement, and here are some common suggestions we often provide.

Don't go to Bed Without Brushing your Teeth

After a long day, it's easy to crawl into bed without brushing your teeth. However, brushing at bedtime means you've done your best to wash away germs and plaque that have built up all day.

Make your Two Minutes of Brushing More Measurable and Engaging

Whether you keep a timer by the bathroom sink or use an app that helps you keep track, think of ways to make brushing for two minutes seem to go by faster.

Find Ways to Make Flossing Easier

Flossing your teeth is just as important as brushing them. Due to certain medical conditions, there are some who have trouble handling string floss. In addition, some simply dislike traditional flossing. In these cases, we recommend alternatives, such floss sticks or a water flosser.

Don't Forget to Brush Your Tongue

There's no need to scrub your tongue vigorously, but it can accumulate plaque just like your teeth. This can cause bad breath and lead to other oral health issues. A few gentle strokes is enough to do the trick if you do this every time you brush.

Drink More Tap Water

Drinking fluoridated tap water not only protects against cavities, it also neutralizes acids that break down your enamel. A good plan to increase your water intake is to start by drinking eight ounces after every meal or snack.

Keep Up with Routine Visits to our Office

No matter how good your personal oral care habits are, it is still important to get professional cleanings every six months. Not only will we get your teeth extra clean, we will provide a comprehensive exam to stop any issues in their tracks before they cause further damage.

There is no better time than now to improve your oral hygiene practices, and a great place to start is contacting us to schedule your next routine visit.
